Queen Mother Imakhu.

Woman of Power.     Woman of Peace.

Queen Mother Imakhu, renown spiritual leader and motivator,
shares the motivational message of love, self-empowerment, and
peace through her cultural performances, workshops, lectures,
and multimedia. Reaching audiences across the globe with her
energy, charisma, humor, intensity, and insight, "Mama" Imakhu
educates as well as entertains.

As an African American woman who has lived a well-rounded life
as a career artist, activist, wife, mother, teacher, author, and
multimedia producer with health challenges, Mama Imakhu brings
a full spectrum voice to the peace table.  Her life experiences
resonate with many who identify with her uplifting motivational
messages.

Perhaps the greatest joy of Mama Imakhu's career has been her
work with families and children. Through sharing African-centered
songs, instruments, and traditions with diverse, intergenerational
populations, Mama Imakhu breaks down barriers and opens up
cultural dialogue. She instills pride in African Americans yearning
for cultural identity. Mama Imakhu's African Art Therapy workshops
for youth in New York City's Juvenile Justice Department were
given special recognition by Mayor Bloomberg's office. As a
mother, minister, and motivator, Mama Imakhu has provided
personal counseling to women, men, youth, and families from
around the world.

Queen Mother Imakhu is one of many Blacks who has reclaimed
her African spiritual origins and practices. The earned title "Queen
Mother" was conferred upon her in her African Kemetic house of
worship, Shrine of Khpra of Brooklyn, NY, by her spiritual father
Grandmaster Kham. The tradition and title "Queen Mother"
originated in ancient Kemet (Egypt), when Black Africans ruled.  In
Kemetic language, Queen Mother is
Mwt Nswt. Traditionally in
ancient Kemet (Egypt), the Queen Mother appointed the kings, and
had a strong interest youth empowerment. Queen Mother Imakhu
now heads her own Kemetic ministry,
AKERU Nu Afrakan
Ministries. Also initated as a Bantu water priestess by Baba
Mandaza Kandemwa of Zimbabwe, Mama Imakhu has brought the
Bantu bridge-building tradition full circle within her cultural work,
and by re-marrying African Americans back to their African Bantu
and Kemetic traditions through education and initiations. (The
Bantu water tradition was born out of Kemetic. African American
spiritual traditions are traced directly to the Bantu and Kemetic.)

"My work is a reflection of the African diaspora. It is about the
healing of my people, and the healing of the global community,
flowing in love and harmony. Love is a mighty force, as deep and
broad as the ocean. Through listening and learning, the process
begins."
